Poetry Sunday

Phenomenology, Or Later, that Same Day...

The cat comes back, the doctor calls,
things happen in ways you can only
begin to imagine. The story
comes after, remember? You turn
the strange into familiar with what is
at hand. Most of your life is like this:
memory, mercy, the ballast
of desire, heavier for the words
you've wrapped around them,
and lighter too.
