Poetry Sunday

Every Sunday I am posting a poem written by another friend/blogger. I start this Sunday with a poem written by Noelle at A Portrait of the Human Heart. Noelle writes sensentional poetry that I always enjoy.

The City

Picture: Lori Nix

The city swallows
the stories of those
that scurry the streets
day after day
I watch and I wonder
if I stopped them
what would they say
and if they stopped me
what would I say
we are all miles and miles
apart from each other
and from the unknown
but we are so alike
and all so afraid
as we hurry home to
our houses and slam
our doors shut
nobody stops
the city swallows
and it never sleeps

Some places can be like that. I really feel the door slam. The image is extraordinary. Peace.
